This program brings us very close to the musical roots and sources of inspiration of the young Johann Sebastian Bach. The dialogue cantata Meine Freundin, du bist schön by his great-uncle Johann Christoph Bach is an outlier in the genre of the religious Baroque cantata. Despite the biblical text, we wonder whether we are in a church or at a wedding.

The cantata Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit BWV 106 leaves not the slightest doubt about that. This cantata, like Georg Philip Telemann's equally intimate, earlier cantata Du aber Daniel, gehe hin was intended as a funeral cantata.
