Messiah, an oratorio

About Dublin and London, a small Messiah and a very big one, empty wallets, musicians in prison, hoop skirts and sabres, mistakes on memorial plaques and grave monuments and about an organ in Aalst.

In this podcast Koen Uvin tells the success story of a modest oratorio that became Handel's most famous work. The story begins in a small concert hall in Dublin and ends forty years later in the enormous Westminster Abbey in London. Surprisingly enough, we also include St. Martin's Church in Aalst. Fascinating, educational and interspersed with well-known music by Handel and completely unknown music by Matthew Dubourgh… Enjoy!
